Ondo Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has commenced preliminary upgrade of the infrastructure and facilities at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.
The Governor’s team, led by the Senior Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Pastor Joseph Ayoade Babalola arrived at the camp to assess the situation on ground, saying that Governor was passionate about the Scheme.
The Senior aide to the Governor who hinted that the Government will construct new blocks of hostels confirmed that the restructuring and facelift will not take much time as the Governor is desirous of making life more comfortable for the corps members.
The team lead who encouraged the corps members to leave a legacy of good character at their various places of primary assignment said that they would enjoy the Sunshine State comfortably due to the hospitality of the citizens and residents.
While describing NYSC Scheme as laudable and vibrant, he admonished them to register their relevance in their host communities and abide always by the core values of the Scheme.
Pastor Babalola, who observed the mandatory service year in Katsina State almost thirty years ago said that the lessons learned during the period have shaped his life to become what he is today.
Welcoming the Governor’s team, the State Coordinator, Mr. Sam Amaramiro Pepple reminded the corps members of what he told them during his briefing when they first reported for service.
The State Coordinator said that he informed them about Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to upgrade the camp facilities when he visited during the last orientation course exercise.
Pepple, who was full of appreciation to His Excellency for fulfilling his promise said that successive corps members will continue to remember the good works of the Governor.
The team was seen moving from one place to another within the camp inspecting dilapidating structures and facilities which needed complete overhauling or total upgrade.
