22-Year-old Ogunlana Omolara Abiodun, a recent graduate of Afe Babalola University, achieved a remarkable CGPA of 5.0 in aerospace engineering, earning her the title of Valedictorian for the third time in her life. In an interview with Legit.ng, Abiodun attributed her success to a blend of hard work, prayer, and support from her family and friends.
Reflecting on her journey, Abiodun shared, “One of my proudest achievements has been being named Valedictorian three times in primary school, secondary school, and now at university.” Her dedication to her studies was further rewarded with a tuition-free scholarship in secondary school, which motivated her to continue striving for academic excellence.
To maintain focus, Abiodun adopted a structured approach to studying, discovering that nighttime sessions allowed for optimal concentration. Time management became her secret weapon, and she also emphasized active engagement in class to reinforce complex concepts. Although she faced emotional challenges, including the loss of a loved one, Abiodun’s resilience helped her push through the difficult times.
Her academic success has already opened doors: she recently received a job offer and is eager to begin her professional journey in aerospace engineering. Looking forward, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in aerospace propulsion systems, with a focus on sustainable aviation technologies.
Guided by the motto “Work like you haven’t prayed and pray like you haven’t worked,” Abiodun advises students to find a strong driving force behind their academic goals, cultivating a mindset of diligence and perseverance.
