Ogun, TASUED VC Rally Support For Teachers

Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu has said teachers are pivotal to efforts directed at reforming the country.

He, therefore, said teachers must be given adequate support to continue to discharge their age-long function of knowledge transfer and societal transformation.

Arigbabu made this call while speaking at a colloquium organised by the Tai Solarin University of Education to celebrate this year’s World Teachers Day. The theme of the colloquium is “Teachers, Rethinking Nigeria’s Development and Stability.’

He said, “Investment in the teachers’ growth and development is very key given their noble roles as those who shape the future leaders, the entrepreneurs, the scientists, among others.

“These investments are in the area of adequate remuneration, teachers should be paid as and when due, provision of a safe and enabling environment, training for the teachers to get better on the job as well as collaborating with relevant stakeholders that will enhance greater productivity and stability for our country.”

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof  Oluwole Banjo, said the country was in need of total repair and repositioning.
