The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has expressed appreciation to the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, for donating 50 buses and 30 tricycles to the institution.
In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Biodun Olanrewaju, the management described the gesture as a demonstration of the First Lady’s commitment to student welfare and mobility.
According to the statement, the vehicles are expected to significantly ease transportation challenges within the campus and improve movement for students and staff.
The university also acknowledged the role of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, in facilitating the delivery of the vehicles, commending his continued support for education and student welfare.
OAU noted that the buses and tricycles have already been deployed for use, adding that efforts are ongoing to optimise routes, improve scheduling, and enhance operational efficiency.
The management appealed to members of the university community to be patient with any initial challenges, assuring that all concerns raised would be addressed.
It reiterated its commitment to providing a seamless and effective transportation system for the benefit of all stakeholders.
