Ten Edo indigenes who were among the 210 recipients of the prestigious President’s National Youth Service Corps Honours Award 2025 have said they are ready to replicate the innovation which won them the award in Edo State.
The awardees are Divine Omoruyi, Joy Ehinome, Odu Donald, Osaretin Michael, Osas Unuane, Dr Samuel Elaiho, Etinosa Ajayi, Charles Hope, Adesuwa Asubaja and Mary Aimuam.
Omoruyi, who spoke on behalf of the awardees, noted that with the enabling environment, they would do the same in the state.
He added, “We are prepared to replicate our innovation in Edo. We are only waiting for the opportunity to leverage our NYSC experiences in the state. Hopefully, those innovations will help boost development in the state.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu conferred the 2025 President’s NYSC Honours Award on 210 former corps members who served between 2020 and 2023, with the ceremony taking place on July 29, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The recipients served in different states across the country and were selected by the state of service for the award,
Omoruyi, a graduate of Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin, was picked due to the innovative application of statistical analysis and digital technology during his service in Taraba State significantly improved NYSC administrative processes.
Also, Elaiho, an optometrist and graduate of the University of Benin, was involved in humanitarian medical outreach which transformed the lives of hundreds of residents during his service in Abia State.
His exceptional performance first earned him the Abia State Best Corps Member Award in 2022, before culminating in the President’s NYSC Honours Award.
The remaining eight Edo awardees also distinguished themselves through outstanding service in their various states of deployment.
Collectively, the 10 awardees represent excellence in public service, innovation, healthcare, education, youth empowerment and community development, reflecting the values promoted by the National Youth Service Corps.
