NUC Secretary Advices New LASU VC to Build Institution
The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Prof. Julius Okojie, has charged the new Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University, LASU, Prof. Lanre Fagbohun, to strive to make LASU a world-class university.
The NUC Scribe, who made this known when the new LASU VC paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Wednesday, 20th January, 2016, advised Prof. Fagbohun to run a consultative and inclusive administration which entailed moving along with everyone and also seeking advice wherever he had any difficulties.
He also told the VC not to fall into the temptation of wanting to be unduly popular with unions to enable him take decisive decision when the need arose.
Okojie urged the Vice Chancellor to go through the academic programmes of the University and their accreditation status, review old programmes, strengthen the weak ones and try to initiate new programmes.
In his response, Prof. Fagbohun appreciated the NUC Scribe for granting his team audience and promised that LASU, under his watch, would do its best to thread the same path.
He stated that his administration had set up 34 Administrative Committees to check the past and current activities of the University, including an Audit Committee that would conduct an audit of staff and students in the Institution.
