NUC Grants Full Approval to Al-Hikmah Varsity’s 22 Programmes

Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 22 academic programmes out of 23 Al-Hikmah University presented to the commission in 2020, Vice Chancellor of the faith-based institution Prof Noah Yusuf has said.

Prof Yusuf added that NUC granted interim accreditation to only one programme (information system) the university presented.

The programmes the supervisory body granted full are accounting, banking and finance, business administration, public administration and history and international studies. Others include Islamic studies, medical laboratory science, public health, education biology, computer science, education technology, library and information science, biochemistry, industrial chemistry, petroleum chemistry, microbiology, cyber security, physics with electronics, economics, mass communication and political science and conflict resolution.

The professor of sociology added that the period of full accreditation is between 2020 and 2025, while that of interim accreditation is between 2020 and 2022.

He said that the “exercise was conducted between March and April 2021, while the comprehensive report was collected from NUC office in Abuja on Friday, August 6th, 2021.

“The 2020 accreditation witnessed the highest number of academic programmes presented for the exercise since the establishment of the university in 2005.

“With the impressive results from the accreditation, the university is further positioned to deliver quality education with available infrastructure and equipment within a secured and friendly environment.”
