NUC Grants Ekiti Varsity Full Accreditation For Five Programmes

The National Universities Commission has awarded full accreditation to five academic programmes at Hillside University of Science and Technology, Okemesi-Ekiti, following the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise.

The programmes that received full accreditation include Allied Health Sciences: Nursing Science, Communication Arts and Media Studies: Mass Communication, Computing: Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Social Sciences: Economics

NUC in a statement cited by PUNCH Online on Monday, said the full accreditation confirms that these programmes meet the national minimum academic standards in curriculum, faculty, infrastructure, and teaching resources.

“The accreditation ensures that graduates from these programmes hold degrees that are recognized nationally and internationally, enhancing employability and professional prospects. It also allows the university to continue offering these programmes, access government funding, and further strengthen its academic reputation,” NUC said.

Reacting to the feat, the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Iheanyichukwu Okoro, said, “The University presented five academic programmes for accreditation during the exercise conducted between October 2025 and January 2026, in line with NUC guidelines for programme maturity. All five programmes were awarded full accreditation status.”

Okoro described the outcome of the accreditation exercise as a testament to the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and global best practices.

He said achievement is a reflection of the collective effort and common vision of the university community.

The VC expressed gratitude to God, staff, and other stakeholders for their staunch support and dedication before, during, and after the exercise.

He added that more accreditation exercises are lined up for other programmes of the university within the year.

“These will involve not only the NUC but also key professional and regulatory bodies, including the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN),” he said.

Okoro further reaffirmed that all 35 academic programmes of the university had earlier been duly verified and approved by the NUC, thereby authorising the institution to admit students through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal.
