NUC Accredits New courses in UNIPORT
Teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) visited the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), last week to carry out accreditation exercises in various programmes presented by the university.
Programmes accredited were: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering; Chemical Engineering, Religious and Cultural Studies, Music, Educational Management; Hospitality and Tourism, Fine Arts and Design, English Studies, Philosophy, Management, Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Educational Management, Adult and Non Formal Education.
Speaking at the different Exit Meetings with the various Teams, the UniPort Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ndowa Lale, tanked members of the Teams for their sacrifices in ensuring that the Commission achieved its mandate of ensuring quality programmes in the universities.
He assured them that the school management would do everything within its powers to implement their recommendations.
In their separate remarks, Leaders of the various Teams had commended authorities of the University for the infrastructural development, programmes and curriculum content, staff mix, as well as well as other facilities on ground also making observations on areas that need to be strengthened in the University, highlighting the professionalism displayed by staff as a reflection of the leadership provided by the administration.
The Vice-Chancellor had earlier welcomed the Teams at the Senate Chambers where he told them that Management was eagerly waiting for their comments on their findings, which would help strengthen the quality of academic activities in the University.
