NIPR To Build University In Nasarawa

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has announced plans to establish a public relations and leadership university in Nasarawa State.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja during the inauguration of the 74-man project implementation committee of the university, the Chairman of NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku, said it would be situated in Nasarawa because the government offered a suitable location.

He noted that the idea of Nasarawa was greeted with criticism as most stakeholders preferred the FCT.

Neliaku said the proposed university was to train leaders to not only communicate effectively but also to speak on their visions and achievements.

He said academics and field professionals were assembled to bring out their professionalism so as to create a world standard university.

On his part, an elder statesman, Prof. Jerry Gana, said since the university might be the first in the world, it should rather be situated in an accessible place where both international and national students could access easily.

Ambassador Jack Ekpelle advocated that the university should make provision for inclusion of albinos and other People Living with Disability (PLWD).

On his part, Nasarawa State Governor, Engr Abdulahi Sule, represented by his Director General, Strategic Communication, Mr Yakubu Lamai, said the location of the university was in a good place and was accessible to anyone.
