Nigerian prodigy Emmanuel Mbahotu emerges top at Russian medical school

A Nigerian, Dr Emmanuel Chijioke Mbahotu, 26, from Ndibinihu Obokwu Obizi Ezinihitte Mbaise has been awarded scholarship at the renowned Russian National Medical Research University, also known as Pirogov Medical Research University Moscow, to specialise in the intricate field of heart surgery.

The scholarship was consequent upon Dr. Emmanuel’s performance at the final exams at the Russian National Medical Research University, where he emerged as the top student in the graduating class of 2024.

Emmanuel currently holds the esteemed position of Inspector of Works at the Global Institute of Medicine within the university’s International School of Medicine and will now proceed on full scholarship for a PhD in heart surgery, along with full-time employment and citizenship.

Born in Park Royal, London in 1997, Dr. Emmanuel’s educational journey began at Cursen Crescent Nursery in Willesden Green, followed by St. Leo Primary School in Ikeja. At the age of 13, he began his academic voyage at Godfrey Okoye Catholic University, where he achieved a remarkable 2nd Class Upper Degree in Biochemistry at just 17. In 2017, he ventured to Moscow to pursue an MBBS programme after gaining valuable experience working with the NYSC and as a lab technologist at Pamo Hospitals in Port Harcourt.

Dr. Emmanuel is also a gifted singer, who currently has some of his muci on the social media.
