Nigerian Breweries Plc has donated a block of classrooms and an e-learning centre to the Federal Government College, Jos, for producing the winner of the 2022 Maltina Teacher of the Year (MToY) Award competition, Alaku Ayiwulu.
The company handed over the facilities recently to the school.
Nigerian Breweries Plc organises the ‘Maltina Teacher of the Year Award’ through its social arm, Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, to identify and reward exemplary teachers in secondary schools nationwide.
Part of the rewards for the overall best in the annual competition is for their school to get a block of classrooms and ICT centre as may be considered a priority for the school.
However, speaking at the handover ceremony in Jos, recently, the Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Sade Morgan described the facilities as a promise which will go a long way to inspire teachers and promote qualitative education in the school.
Morgan, in a press statement in Lagos, said the donation of the facilities further underscores Nigerian Breweries’ commitment to providing necessary interventions that can contribute substantially to improving the quality of education in the country.
In his remarks, the principal of the College, Dr West Dulphine, noted that the inauguration of the facilities marked a milestone in the school as it opened a new vista and laid aside the old maxim that ‘Teacher’s reward is in heaven.’
He commended NB Plc and Felix Ohiwerei Trust Fund for the giant strides recorded through the competition each year.
He declared that the facilities will boost learning and teaching as well as performance of both the students and teachers in the college.
He also commended the teacher, Alaku Ayiwulu, for bringing the honour to the school and urged him not to relent.
Award winner, Ayiwulu, thanked NB Plc for fulfilling its promise, saying that the annual award is a real investment in teachers and teaching profession in the country.
Ayiwulu also noted that the block of classrooms and ICT donated will inspire students to reach new heights of academic excellence and teachers to work harder.
