NAUS CMC Takes Campaign Against Drug Abuse, Cultism To LAUTECH, Others

The National Association University Students, NAUS, Campus Monitoring Committee, CMC, Oyo State chapter, Wednesday, took its campaign against drug abuse, cultism and other social vices to Ogbomosho area of the state.

The campaign took the team to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH and other schools in the town.

The team, led by the Chairman, Comr. Michael Oluwatosin Oladipupo, also used the occasion to distribute over 5,000 books in various subjects to students.

“This campaign marked a pivotal step in promoting a safer, healthier, and more conducive environment for learning and personal development among university students and the broader community. The leadership of NAUS CMC is demonstrating its commitment to fostering positive societal change and supporting the well-being of students across the state.

“We visited Ogbomoso High School, Anglican Grammar School, Nurudeen Grammar School among others and LAUTECH Campus where we campaigned against drug abuse, cultism, prostitution, indecent dressing, robbery, examination malpractice, hooliganism, thuggery, gambling, smoking, premarital sexual activity, and rape.

“We also distributed over 5,000 educational books to students within the Ogbomoso Zone of Oyo State. These books are meticulously designed and we raised  awareness on the dangers of drug abuse, the perils of cultism, the negative consequences of other social vices, and the importance of making positive life choices. Through compelling stories, up to date information, and practical advice, the books aim to educate students on how to avoid these pitfalls and live fulfilling and productive lives. This initiative is not only a preventive measure but also an empowering tool for students to become advocates for positive change within their communities.

“The successful distribution of these books would not have been possible without the generous support of our esteemed sponsors. NAUS CMC extends heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Dr. Dikko Salami, Mr  Arokodare Adebisi Busuyi, and Hon. Olusanjo Damilare Sunday,  and other sponsors who have contributed to this noble cause. Their commitment to social responsibility and financial support has played an instrumental role in bringing this campaign to life. The association recognizes that the fight against social vices is a collective effort, and the support from sponsors has been invaluable in reaching the Ogbomoso zone.

“While the initial phase of the campaign has been a resounding success, there is still much work to be done. I urge you all to join hands with us in this campaign. Let us raise our voices, take action, and make a difference. Our future depends on the steps we take today. NAUS CMC Oyo State is calling on more sponsors to join this crucial initiative and help extend the campaign to other zones within Oyo State. Resources are needed to replicate the book distribution efforts and expand educational outreach to a broader audience.

“The campaign against drug abuse, cultism, and other social vices launched by NAUS CMC Oyo State Chapter is a beacon of hope for many students and communities. With the continued support from everyone, this initiative has the potential to make a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals. NAUS CMC remains dedicated to this cause and looks forward to forging new partnerships that will enable the campaign to reach every corner of Oyo State, ensuring a brighter, safer, and more prosperous future for all,” Oladipupo said.
