
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised that his second term will be better and more impactful than the first.
He promised to work harder to deliver more dividends of democracy to the residents.
The governor spoke at the inauguration of several projects lined up to kick off the inauguration of his second term.
Sanwo-Olu said his administration remained committed to the safety, security and prosperity of all Lagos residents.
Among the projects the governor inaugurated yesterday are the newly reconstructed and upgraded Adeniji Adele Street, Okepopo/Tapa Street, Iga Idunganran, Sura Primary Healthcare Centres in Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Oke-Odo Junior High School at Ebute Metta.
The governor also inaugurated phase three of Ikosi International Modern Market; phase two of the International Fruit Market in Ketu; and the 72-unit Ndubuisi Kanu Housing Estate at Gbagada in Kosofe Local Government Area, comprising two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats.
Other are: the School of Basic Medical Science Block; 120-bed MCC (SDG building), ambulance bay, special services centre, house and officers’ quarters at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH); newly cleaned up Mba-Cardoso Street at Ajegunle; Akesan Obadore Road in Alimosho; Ikeja Town Square and the newly installed Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 104-5+LX Machine at the Lagos State Printing Corporation in Ikeja.
Sanwo-Olu also opened jetties with waiting shelters and shoreline protection at Marina and Isaju-Ajido in Badagry, Ilashe and Ijegun-Egba in Amuwo-Odofin; school buildings at Government Girls’ Senior College in Agege; Alimosho Junior Grammar School and Ijaiye Housing Estate Junior Secondary School in Alimosho; newly constructed Primary Healthcare Centre at Ijedodo in Iba LCDA, Ojo; and Ijaiye-Ojokoro Senior High School at Ifako Ijaiye.
The governor assured the residents that his administration would ensure good governance and not disappoint them, just as they supported him during the election.
He also urged them to take possession of government assets and put them to good use.
At Adeniji Adele, Sanwo-Olu said: “We have a firm conviction that these projects will positively impact the lives of residents. They will enhance safety and security, lead to the creation of new jobs and livelihood opportunities on Lagos Island.
“Also, it is expected that the regeneration projects will improve connectivity and drastically reduce the travel time of commuters. What is more: the well laid out and connected drainage system will significantly mitigate the perennial flooding often experienced in this area, enhance property values, as well as stimulate businesses and economic development on the island.”
