Lagos To Inaugurate 16 Blocks Of Classrooms

Lagos State Government says no fewer than 16 rehabilitated classrooms will be inaugurated in the six divisions of the state, beginning from tomorrow.

Chairman of the Special Committee of Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS), Hakeem Smith, said this yesterday at Baguda Kalto Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

The Special Committee of Rehabilitation of Public Schools was created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2004 when he was the governor of Lagos State and re-inaugurated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2019.

“Since inauguration, SCRPS has been able to rehabilitate 386 blocks of classrooms in primary and secondary schools in Lagos State.

“Our new construction projects are preceded with a good geo-technical soil investigation to ensure they are founded on the right strata.

“The designs are functional, well orientated to ensure adequate natural light penetration and ventilation and well finished to ensure durability with the choice of materials,” he said.

SCRP is saddled with the responsibility of rehabilitating dilapidated structures in Lagos public schools and building new classroom blocks in public schools.

The programme will begin from Keme Balogun School in Ibeshe Ikorodu with a drive through and inauguration of Ajegunle Junior Secondary School in Kosofe.

The committee chairman listed some of the schools that will be inaugurated today.
