
Legendary Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal aka KWAM 1 will be conferred with the rank of Member of the Order of the Nigeria (MON) by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
The Fuji maestro was selected among the 437 Nigerians to receive the national honours.
The list contains individuals from different works of life, including politicians, public officers, security personnel, businessmen, monarchs and religious leaders among others.
A letter from the Office of the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs confirmed the Fuji star as one of the awardees.
Part of the letter reads: “I have the honour to formally inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved the conferment of the National Honours on you, in the rank of MON (Member of the Order of the Niger)”
Born Wasiu Omogbolahan Olasunkanmi Adewale Ayinde Marshal on March 3, 1957, he recently celebrated his 50 years on stage as his music continues to appeals to all age groups, irrespective of tribe and background.
