Filmmaker and culture advocate, Tunde Kelani, has opened a window for promotion of Nigerian film with selection of his work, Cordelia, for the 30th New York African Film Festival this month.
The organisers said the film will be screened at Lincoln Centre on May 15, at 7.30 pm.
“We are pleased to invite Cordelia to the 2023 New York African Film Festival,” Festival Director, Mahen Bonneti, said. He added Cordelia will be screened with Employee of the Month, by Goga Clay.
Set in Nigeria during 1990s, Cordelia was adapted from a work of fiction by dramatist and poet, Femi Osofisan.
Kelani described the film as ‘product of collaboration with people from different cultures, united by a creative force without boundaries’.
“Cordelia is a period drama from Femi Osofisan’s novella, set in 1990s Nigeria under military rule. It is a gripping tale of sacrifice, bravery, and the lengths a person will go to protect those they care about in times of crisis,” he added.
