Let’s be honest: Jennifer Lopez looks 25 years old. If the singer—who will turn 50 next year—told us tomorrow that she’s actually immortal, we’d probably believe it. Or at least ask her for skincare tips.
But that doesn’t mean J.Lo lets her age-bending superpowers go to her head. She’s well aware that someday, she’s going to look older, and she said as much while speaking to emmy magazine.
“Listen, at some point, I’m going to age,” she cracked. “They’ll say, ‘She looks old!’ But, right now, I’m holding it together.”
She “holds it together” like Queen Elizabeth “holds together” the monarchy, which is to say, with professional precision. Even her beau Alex Rodriguez seems to agree.
“The other day, Alex was across the lawn, and I brought him something, and then I ran away. And he said, ‘You run like you’re 25 years old,’” Lopez said. “I haven’t stopped that pace, so I’m still at that pace, I guess. When things start aching more, it’ll be different.”
That day is decidedly not today. When InStyle asked her directly about how she seems to age backwards, Lopez mercifully clued us in on her fitness routine and diet.
“I like to work out in the morning,” she said. “It loosens me up, gets me ready for the day, and keeps me strong. I’m convinced that working out is part of what makes me so happy. I really believe that when you take care of yourself and work to stay healthy, you’re better able to take care of those you love.”
The queen has spoken.
