
Jay Z confirmed he’s releasing a new album, titled 4:44, on June 30, the rapper make the confirmation shortly after welcoming the twins. This marks the rapper’s first record in four years, since Magna Carta… Holy Grail in 2013.
Hov previously teased 4:44 with mysterious billboards and posters in New York City, and then with a cryptic trailer starring Mahershala Ali, Danny Glover and Lupita Nyong’o, which aired during the NBA Finals last week.
In a new version of the clip shared by Sprint yesterday, the video is soundtracked with a snippet of a new Jay Z track titled “Adnis.” Hova raps over footage of Ali boxing:
Jay Z’s 4:44 will drop at 12:01 a.m. ET on Friday, June 30, exclusively on Tidal. Sprint customers will also be able to listen. It has not been announced if the record will be available on other music platforms. The rapper will also be on the road supporting the new album’s release preforming at festivals like The Meadows and Made In America, so fans can expect to experience the new music live.
After previewing dramatic visuals, Hov has fans wondering if 4:44 is his long-awaited visual album response to Beyoncé’s Lemonade. We only have a few weeks until we find out.
