IWD: 3MTT Collaborates HerTechHub to award 370 laptops, 774 tablets to participants
In a significant move towards promoting gender diversity in technology, Dr Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has unveiled a collaboration between the government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program and HerTechHub.
The initiative aims to distribute 370 laptops and 774 tablets to female participants of the 3MTT program in celebration of the 2024 International Women’s Day (IWD).
HerTechHub, an initiative led by Engr. Fatima Abubakar-Faruk from the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Women Affairs, will organize two challenges for the over 540,000 women in the 3MTT learning community.
The challenges offer participants a chance to win devices and internship opportunities, emphasizing female participation in the technology workforce.The challenges include a Special #IWD2024 Edition of the Knowledge Showcase, where women can share their learning experiences in a short video, and a second challenge to develop innovative solutions to local community problems using technology.
Details on participating in the challenges will be released on the 3MTT page soon, as announced by the Communications Minister on his social media handle.
As the first 30,000 fellows of the 3MTT program conclude their training, the Minister disclosed that the announcement of 270,000 Nigerians selected for the 2nd cohort is scheduled for February 29th, 2024.
The newly selected fellows will commence their training in March. Dr Tijani expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from partners and stakeholders, highlighting the government’s commitment to achieving its target of training 3 million Nigerians in technical skills.
International Women’s Day, observed globally on March 8th, celebrates the accomplishments of women in various fields, addressing critical issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and combating violence and abuse against women.
