Ifeoluwa Odunayo Babayemi is a 19-year-old graduate of Industrial Chemistry from Oyo State. He graduated in the 2023/2024 academic sessions at the Anchor University Lagos as the overall Best graduate with a Perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4 out of 4.
Young Babayemi started his primary school education at Sterne Nursery and Primary School in Ikorodu and later enrolled at the Federal Government College, Odogbolu, to complete his secondary school education.
Ifeoluwa Babayemi, in 2021, secured a late admission into Anchor University, Lagos, where he studied Industrial Chemistry.
His exploit in the sciences is not by accident as his father, Engineer Isiah Babayemi is a successful Electrical and Automation Engineer while his mother, Mrs Mary Babayemi is a Livestock Farmer.
In an interview with Daily Independent, Babayemi said, “I acknowledged God in my life. I was always willing to go the extra mile. I studied beyond the classroom. I had healthy relationships with my lecturers and colleagues and found a sustainable balance in every aspect of my life spiritually, academically, morally, and financially.”
The valedictorian in his address expressed appreciation to the Chancellor, Pastor (Dr.) William Kumuyi, the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees, the Pro-Chancellor and members of Council, the Vice-Chancellor and members of the Management, Deans, Heads of Department, and staff for providing the right atmosphere for him to study and excel.
To his parents he said, “My profound gratitude goes to my parents, Engr and Mrs Babayemi for their financial, spiritual, moral, and academic support. I am equally grateful to my siblings, Oluwanifemi and Oluwafemi.
Their belief in me has been a great source of inspiration.”
He added, “My academic journey was not always stellar. I was not among the top students in my secondary school, and I wasn’t even serious about my academics. My only goal was to perform above the class average. I remember the joy of scoring higher than the class average. Upon stepping foot on the vibrant campus of Anchor University, I found myself face-to-face with HIM (God)—a presence so captivating that it altered the very course of my life. It sparked a change within me, igniting a journey of self-discovery.”
