The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz on Monday, October 30, 2023, visited the MAD House of the University of Lagos. The visit was part of his 2-day working visit to Nigeria.
The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz who arrived Nigeria on Sunday, October 29, 2023, had already met with President Bola Tinubu. His mission in Lagos also includes attending the opening session of a Nigeria-Germany Business Conference organized by the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce.
Olaf Scholz and his entourage arrived the UNILAG Campus via the Lagoon Front, making him the first international visitor to do so.
The German delegation was received by the management of the University led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON FAS.
The entire delegation immediately moved to the MAD House where Olaf Scholz had an interaction with some start-up entrepreneurs.
The MAD House, according to its Founder, Bayo Omoboriowo, is a Creative incubation space meant to nurture raw ideas into products, and from products into industry.
Mr. Omoboriowo who served as official photographer to the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari said the German Chancellor graciously agreed to visit the University of Lagos MAD House having been impressed with the intention, the mission and the quality of innovation so far executed at the MAD House site, one which he believes will birth more international collaborations for all stakeholders.
Completed in 2023, the MAD House project began in 2018 as a creative space to groom creative minds between ages 18 and 35.
