Foundation Awards 23 UNILAG Students N5.75m

The Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation has awarded financial support to 23 deserving students of the University of Lagos to the tune of N5.75m.

The 23 beneficiaries were selected based on their academic performance, financial need, and overall potential.

Their financial support covers their tuition fees, accommodation, and other educational expenses.

Executive Director of the foundation, Sulaiman Olagunju, who made the presentation to the students at the UNILAG, said it was keen on equipping students with the necessary tools to become self-reliant, responsible citizens and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting social welfare and economic empowerment.

“Education is not just a necessity; it is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for societal transformation.

“The foundation’s support for the students is not just charity, but an investment in the future of the society.

“By providing financial assistance, mentorship, and career guidance, we are equipping these students with the necessary tools to become self-reliant, responsible citizens who will contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.

Speaking further, the Executive Director urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunity and strive for excellence.

“Pursue your studies with dedication, uphold the values of hard work and integrity, and strive to be agents of positive change in your communities,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the foundation’s donors and partners.

The Dean of Student Affairs, UNILAG, Prof Musa Obalola commended Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation for their commitment to supporting education.

“This support is a testament to the foundation’s dedication to ensuring that no deserving student is deprived of education due to financial constraints,” he said.
