Firm Unveils Coding Training For Teens

Teens can Code, a social enterprise, has unveiled its STEM360 programme for secondary school pupils in low income communities to bridge the gap in digital literacy.

It will spur  innovation in technology education, while supporting needs of educators and students, and bridging technology talent gap.

Founder, Damian Isaac, stressed that ‘the initiative is to empower young people to create their technology and apps …’

He added: “With the advent of technology, children have the right to access digital skills to sharpen their knowledge of technology, and we are excited to launch this programme in schools.

“The future is tech so it is important for young ones learn everything that shapes today and the future. It is important they learn about coding because it has to do with today and their future. Coding is taking over, technology is taking over, everything around us is technology and so young people must learn about this digital economy.”

Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education of District I, Bashir Adebowale, represented by Director (Administration), Mrs. Iyabo Bello, thanked the organisers and urged them to spread the idea to other districts.

A pupil of Government Senior College, Agege, Miracle Jude, said she hoped to use the knowledge to develop technologies to solve problems.

The training, which begins on February 8, will also see pupils learning about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to understand how to identify problems and proffer technology-driven solutions.
