Creative and funny Nigerian comedian, BOVI made a stunning revelation of how he almost shot himself on the foot by initially charging low for the award-winning Diamond Bank Advert (“You Need a New Bank”) deal during an interview session on VJ Adams latest show, ‘Off The Top’.
The talented comedian revealed on the show how he was contacted by a lady from Diamond Bank (now Access Bank) who informed him of a TV Commercial Shoot they were having and would want him to appear in. After their talk, she asked for his fees and he told her he will collect N200,000. He then revealed further how he contacted Basketmouth’s manager, Ann Obaseki (who now manages him) to help him prepared an invoice for the amount and the lady asked what it was meant for and he told her it’s for a Diamond Bank Advert Campaign. It was this lady who made him to realise that he had priced himself low with the fee fpr a campaign that will include TVC, Print Advert, Outdoor Exposure, etc. He said he had to call back the Diamond Bank lady and told her he will no longer be able to do it because after discussing with his management they were angry at the fee (he was having no manager at this time). The lady now told him she had informed the management about him coming on board and she will need to inform them again of the new development.
After going back and forth, he said the lady told him the management really wanted him on the project and asked for his new fees, and he told her about 200% more of the initial N200,000 and they agreed to pay him for a one-year deal. He then stated further that the TV commercial later won an award at the 2014 Lagos Advertising & Ideas Festival (LAIF).
