Ekiti Suspends Head Teacher Over Illegal Levies Collection

Ekiti state government has sanctioned the head teacher of Saint Philips CAC Nursery and Primary School, Erio-Ekiti, Adeniyi Ayodele over the collection of illegal charges levies.

The executive chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Prof. Femi Akinwumi disclosed this in a statement in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.

Akinwumi said that Ayodele was relieved of his post for two months following Ayodele’s confession that he committed the infraction levelled against him.

He said the suspended teacher’s action contravened the free and compulsory education policy of the Governor Biodun-led administration in the state.

He revealed that evidence proved that Ayodele was collecting N25,000 from each pupil in primary six while another N8,000 was being collected from each of the primary four pupils.

Akinwumi said the punishment was necessary to serve as a deterrent to other Head Teachers in public primary schools who are fond of breaching government policies

He directed the head teacher to hand over to the most senior assistant head teacher who should be reporting at the SUBEB headquarters pending further determination of the case.
