The Acting Rector of Ajayi Polytechnic, Ikere-Ekiti, Dr. Bolanle Ajayi has called for more funding of the country’s education sector to enhance national development.
Ajayi, who stressed the need for a better education sector, said quality and functional education remained precursor to economic growth and development.
The Acting-Rector spoke in Ikere-Ekiti, the headquarters of Ikere Council Area of Ekiti during the institution’s matriculation and convocation ceremony.
He stated that governments could not fund education alone, urging individuals to contribute to the development of education in Nigeria.
”There is really a need for more money for education. It should be accorded the topmost priority.
”Every sector needs more funding, but education needs it more. It is the mother of all sectors. Education affects all sectors.”
Founder of the institution, Dr. Busayo Ajayi, said the institution is marching forward in its quest towards raising giants and skilled technicians who are entrepreneurial driven.
He added: “To remain focused on our vision, we ensure that all our students acquire at least one skill before they graduate. Looking back, with a deep sense of appreciation to God, all our targets have been met so far.”
