Tottenham Hotspurs’ British-born Nigerian midfielder, Dele Alli has been slammed with a three-match ban for violent conduct after punching West Brom’s Claudio Yacob in their 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane on Monday.
The FA Committee met on Thursday and agreed to a three-game suspension for the England international. This will see him miss out on the team’s remaining matches as the season draws to a close and title race gets hotter.
Meanwhile, another British-born Nigerian footballer plying his trade in the English Premier League (EPL), Gabriel Agbonlahor has quit his position as captain of the relegated Aston Villa team after a very terrible season.
According to him, he does not deserve the captain armband after failing the team, his coach, teammates and fans with his poor conducts.
‘I do not deserve to carry out such a role,’ he posted to Instagram on Thursday.
He also apologized for his poor behavior in recent times and vowed to always support the club.
On giving up the captaincy of the club he has been at for 16 years, Agbonlahor said: “I do not deserve to carry out such a role anymore.
