The big feat also confirms the singer’s “Afrobeat Superstar” and “001” nomenclature, hence the many recognitions and nods his craft has received over the years by fans and music enthusiasts across the globe.

Davido’s entry into the highly revered Billboard’s Top 50 Albums of 2023 with his most recent music album, “Timeless,” heightens the singer’s numerous achievements in the music scene since the launch of his musical career in 2011.

The big feat also confirms the singer’s “Afrobeat Superstar” and “001” nomenclature, hence the many recognitions and nods his craft has received over the years by fans and music enthusiasts across the globe.

Originally, David Adedeji Adeleke, or Davido as he is popularly known, he launched his musical career professionally in 2011 with the release of his debut hit song, “Dami Duro,” which fetched him a significant level of recognition across the country and beyond.

Davido has since then not only maintained the status quo but strives to set the bar higher while also setting a pace for many up-and-coming entertainers across the country and beyond. Little wonder many young creatives refer to him as their role model while also describing him as an “Idolo”, a term used instead of an “idol.”

These young artists consider the afrobeat superstar an idol who should be worshipped because of his exquisite musical prowess, which sets him apart. His lifestyle, which incorporates the ability to socialize with both the elite and people of all other social classes, is also an admirable nature of the singer.

Davido appeared in the headlines again on Wednesday, December 7, 2023, after obtaining a spot on Billboard’s list of the Top 50 Best Albums of the Year 2023 with the album “Timeless,” which he released on March 31, 2023.

Davido’s release of the “Timeless” album in March was indeed breathtaking and a big sigh of relief to his fans and well-wishers who desperately anticipated his return from an unsolicited sabbatical that kept their supposed “favorite” away from public sight for several months.

Instead of that, the “Timeless” album has since its release been performing as well as was expected, having topped numerous charts across the globe. It also clinched other noble local and international recognitions coupled with his latest feat on the highly admired Billboard records.

Recall that “Timeless” was the singer’s comeback album after a spell away, which was inspired by the loss of his then-only son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, whom he bore with his wife, Chioma (Chioma Rowland) who was at the time just one of his baby mamas.

Following its release on March 31, the singer has undoubtedly experienced a quantum leap in his musical career and achievements across several spheres. “Timeless” is the singer’s fourth studio album and houses 17 songs. Upon its release, it has continued to rake in millions of streams across global music platforms, topping charts and breaking records.

The body of work had reportedly set its first-day streaming record for an African album on Apple Music in April, secured the 37th spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart in the same month, and on November 10, earned the singer his first nomination for the 2024 Grammy Awards, including Best Global Album for his latest album, “Timeless,” Best African Performance for his song “Unavailable,” and Best Global Music Performance for his song “Feel.” This only represents a skeletal overview of the accolades the singer and his album have received since the project’s unveiling. Davido surely deserves his flowers!

Disclosing his entry into the Billboard Best 50 albums for the year, Billboard’s Dan Rys said, “Before all the accolades—the Grammy nominations, the Headies Awards, the festival slots, and the international tours—there was the music, and what Davido achieves on Timeless truly lives up to his acclaim. Whether it’s joyous love songs like ‘In the Garden’ with Morravey, amapiano duets like the Asake-assisted ‘No Competition,’ driving dance hits like ‘Kante’ with Fave, or highlife odes to luxury like ‘Na Money’ with The Cavemen and Angélique Kidjo—not to mention the crown jewel of the project, the Musa Keys collab ‘Unavailable’—Davido delivers one of the best bodies of work from this past year and certainly the best of his career. Simply put, ‘Timeless’ is a triumph and a landmark album in the global explosion of Afrobeats.”

Davido’s “Timeless” album ranked number thirty-nine in the esteemed chart, which also included Drake’s “For All the Dogs,” Metro Boomin’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” Lil Yachty’s “Let’s Start Here,” Doja Cat’s “Scarlet,” and lots more.
