Nigerian-born entertainer Owen Gee has achieved an extraordinary milestone, clinching ten (10) awards across three major Canadian film festivals — the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF), Brampton International Nollywood Film Festival (BINFF), and the Kitchener Waterloo International Film Festival (KWIFF).
At TINFF, Owen Gee’s short film “Don’t Dull” won Best Short Comedy and Best Experimental Movie, celebrating his signature humor and creative storytelling. His acclaimed documentary “Nigeria Laughs” earned multiple top honors at BINFF, including Best Documentary, Best Producer, and Best Director, recognizing his versatility and depth as a filmmaker. Continuing his winning streak, “Nigeria Laughs” also took home Best Documentary and Best Comedy Film at KWIFF, cementing his reputation as one of Africa’s most dynamic creative voices on the global stage.
In addition to his festival triumphs, Owen Gee received special honors from the Hon. Graham McGregor, Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, for his exceptional contributions to entertainment, economic development, and cultural exchange between Canada and Africa.
He was also honored by the Mayor of Brampton, Mr. Patrick Brown, for his outstanding achievements and lasting impact in the entertainment industry, commending his creativity, humor, and artistic brilliance that continue to inspire and unite communities in Nigeria and Canada.
