A brilliant Nigerian lady named Stella Chinelo Emelife has broken the 100-year-old record of Mysore University India after earning 20 gold medals and five cash prize awards as the best graduating student.
Stella obtained her masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Mysore in India with a 92.6% distinction grade. She broke the 100-year academic record of the university after she won 20 Gold medals and five cash prize awards at the university’s 2018 convocation.
She is the first international student to earn the university’s achievement and emerged as the best-graduating student. Stella bagged her bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry with a 4.86 first-class grade at Usman Dafondiyo University, Nigeria.
Stella earned the masters degree through a fully funded scholarship she won from the ICCR (Indian Council For Cultural Relations).
The President of the National Council of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Professor Sunday Olawale Okeniyi described Chinelo as a great asset to Nigeria who should be given the needed support to achieve greater heights
He stated that Chinelo had earlier expressed her wish to pursue cancer research and to find its cure, as many of her compatriots are suffering from the dreaded disease.
Stella was awarded the Ed and Julia Hodges Memorial Scholarship Award at the University of North Texas in recognition of her academic and research accomplishments in Chemistry. She said the scholarship is a privilege and a testament to her hardwork.
