Bowen Varsity celebrates first-ever graduate with perfect 5.0 CGPA

Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, has celebrated one of its own, Lotechukwu Ikpo, for making history as the institution’s first-ever graduate to achieve a perfect 5.0/5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average.

The university made the announcement on its official Facebook page late Monday, describing Lotechukwu’s academic journey as one marked by resilience, discipline, and inspiration.

The post read, “At our 25th Convocation Ceremony, one name lit up the hall — Lotechukwu Isioma Ikpo! Declared the Best Graduating Student, she made history as the first-ever graduate with a perfect 5.0/5.0 CGPA at Bowen University!”

According to the institution, Ikpo’s academic excellence was even more remarkable considering the personal challenges she faced during her studies.

“Her journey began with the Advanced Level Program and wasn’t easy. After losing her father in her second year, Lotechukwu turned her grief into fuel for success,” the post added.

The institution added that Ikpo’s moment of triumph was emotional, as she received numerous awards and a fully funded Master’s scholarship.

It added, “With tears of joy, she walked the stage multiple times, collecting countless awards, including a fully funded Master’s scholarship! Her story shows us that with passion and perseverance, there are no limits to what we can achieve. We’re so proud to be part of her journey!”

Bowen University also used the occasion to inspire other students, urging them to strive for excellence.

“Now, it’s your turn to write your own limitless story!” the university added.

The historic achievement was announced during the 25th Convocation Ceremony of Bowen University, owned by the Nigerian Baptist Convention, held on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
