Anichebe confirms W’Brom exit

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games silver medallist Victor Anichebe has announced he will be leaving West Brom when his contract expires next month, Skysports reports.

Anichebe, who moved to The Hawthorns from Everton for £5m in the summer of 2013, has struggled to make an impression in the first team this season, despite a troubled campaign for fellow striker Saido Berahino.

The 28-year-old Nigeria striker did not start a Premier League match for West Brom until the 1-0 home win over Newcastle on December 28 and Baggies boss Tony Pulis named him in his starting line-up on just two further occasions.

He wrote on Twitter, “Thank you to all the West Brom fans for the support during my time at the club! I wish you all the best for the future. God bless.”

Anichebe has scored nine goals in 63 appearances for Albion. He failed to find the net in his 14 appearances this season.

Meanwhile, Swansea striker Andre Ayew says his future depends on a summer discussion with club chairman Huw Jenkins.

Ayew was heavily linked with Sunderland during the January transfer window and there have been reports of summer interest from West Ham.

The Ghana international says he is happy at Swansea after finishing as the club’s top-scorer with 12 goals.

“I’m happy here. If I have to stay, fine. If I have to leave, I have to leave,” he said.

Ayew scored Swansea’s final goal of their Premier League campaign, finding the equaliser in their 1-1 home draw with Manchester City on Sunday.
