Ambode Enjoins Youths to Support the National Change Agenda
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has enjoined youths in the country to support the national change agenda which include the fight against corruption, job creation, security and revamping the economy through diversification and infrastructural development.
The Governor made this appeal during the swearing-in of the 2016 batch ‘A’ stream II orientation course at the NYSC Orientation Camp Ground, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.
While congratulating them for the successful completion of their academic programmes which have given them the privilege to participate in the one year service to the nation, he urged them to be vigilante and security conscious owing to current security challenges in the nation.
“I also charge you to exhibit the highest degree of possible loyalty, dedication, discipline and commitment to national ideals and be a testament of wishes and aspiration of our people for continued development”, he said.
The Governor represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, commended the youth service scheme for still being relevant and living up to the vision of the founding fathers despite challenges of recent times.
While assuring them of his administration’s commitment to providing the enabling environment for them to optimize their capacity, he encouraged them to pay serious attention to all the programmes in the camp with special attention to the entrepreneurial training in order to be adequately equipped for self employment after services.
In his address, the State Co-ordinator, NYSC Lagos, Mr. Akhanemhe Cyril implored the Youth Corp members to participate fully and effectively in all aspects of the orientation course so as to realize the objective of being self reliant and self employed.
He reiterated that the youth service scheme was borne out of the necessity to reconcile the various sections of the country after the bitter war which lasted for thirty months and to equip corps members with practical and leadership skills through proper courses needed in meeting societal challenges.
