Akwa Ibom Governor cancels 5,000 Teachers’ recruitment
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has ordered the cancellation of the 5,000 teachers’ recruitment exercise carried out by the State Secondary Education Board in 2015.
The teachers affected are those who were recruited under the administration of immediate past governor of the state, Chief Godswill Akpabio.
In a statement signed by the Head of Service in the state, Mrs. Ekereobong Akpan, the governor declared null and void all letters of appointments earlier issued by the board to the affected persons.
It would be recalled that Governor Udom upon assumption of office suspended the deployment of the teachers, stating that the recruitment process was marred with irregularities.
The statement also indicated that the state government would make adequate arrangement for the engagement of qualified indigenes of the state to teach in the state public secondary schools as soon as possible.
