“Theatrepreneurship, Interactivity & Survival In A Globally Recessed Economy”: AKSU-FEST 2024’s Theme Unveiled In Style

The former Deputy vice Chancellor (Academics) of Akwa Ibom State University, Prof. Umoren Umoren on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 unveiled the theme of the 2024 edition of the Institution’s Annual Festival of Performances, Akwa Ibom State University Festival of Perfornances (AKSU- FEST).
According to the Head of Department, Dr. Lucy Iseyen, who doubles as the Festival Director, the theme “Theatrepreneurship, Interactivity & Survival in a Globally Recessed Economy” seeks to reshape Nigeria’s arts development and cultural renaissance.
The theme unveiling, which took place at Pinnacle Theatre, Obio Akpa campus, venue of the planned festival, was witnessed by the Vice Dean, Faculty of Arts, Dr. Ekere who is also the Head of Department, History & International Studies- representing the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Iniobong Umotong. Other academia’s present were Prof. Uwemedimo Atakpo, Dr. Ekaette Brian, Dr. Bassey Nsa, Dr. Nnanake Ekeke, Dr. O. U. Jacob, Dr. Ikike Uffod and Mr. Stephen Umoh.
The release made available to journalists states that the week-long event, scheduled for 20th through 24th of May, promises to showcase eight artistic performances, (directed by staffers and students of the Department) and two Symposia by Doyens of Dramatic Arts on topical perspectives of Creative Economy.
