AAUA VC Commends Institution’s Entrepreneurship Centre
The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, has expressed satisfaction over the activities and progress made by the Institution’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, CED.
Prof. Ajibefun, in company with other Principal Officers of the University, inspected the equipment in the newly-completed CED, and another 500-capacity Lecture Theatre, which is at 40 per cent completion.
Speaking with the Information Unit of the University after the inspection, Prof. Ajibefun said, “We are satisfied with the newly-completed structure of the Centre and its activities. The Centre has a number of equipment that can be used for the training of our students. By the Grace of God, we are going to use the Centre judiciously.
“Our students will be involved in practical training. People from outside will also have the opportunity to participate in our training programmes. We have a competent hand as Director of the Centre, Dr. Olusegun Akanbi, and we are satisfied with what he and his team are doing. They should continue to do what they doing so that our students will get the required skills.”
Prof. Ajibefun, who also expressed satisfaction over the level of work in the 500-capacity Lecture Theatre, urged the contractor to complete the project in record time by November 2015.
Speaking, Dr. Akanbi said one of the goals of the Centre is to stimulate the interest of the students in entrepreneurship and give them certain trainings that would be of help to them even upon graduation.
He added, “The students have shown much in the new entrepreneurship programme we are running now and a lot of them have come up with different proposals.”
Dr. Akanbi said that the Centre already has five functioning units. They are Fashion Designing Unit, Shoe Making Unit, Bead Making Unit, Catering Services Unit and Computer Unit.
He disclosed that TETFUND had approved funds to purchase some equipment “to enhance and enlarge the performance of the Centre.”
