Ekiti State will showcase the Agro-Tourism vision of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji at the 22nd Akwaaba African Travel Market, holding at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos, from 13–15 September 2026.
The State, recently recognised as Nigeria’s Most Active Tourism State for the third consecutive year, will attend under the theme: EKITI AGRO-TOURISM — THE FARM IS THE DESTINATION
The delegation will be led by Wale Ojo-Lanre, Esq., Director-General, Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development.
According to Ojo-Lanre, Ekiti’s participation at major tourism markets is deliberately thematic and strategic.
“We do not go to exhibitions merely to display photographs of tourism sites. We go to position Ekiti around contemporary products, infrastructure, investment and experiences that can attract tourists, buyers and investors,” he said.
He explained that while Ekiti had previously projected Medical Tourism and Educational Tourism, the 2026 outing will focus on the State’s growing Agro-Tourism economy.
Key attractions will include the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, the Young Farmers Revolution, the Cavista/Agbeyewa Cassava Programme, the cocoa rebirth initiative, and Value Ingredients Limited, which represents the State’s Farm-to-Factory-to-Table value chain.
“Our proposition is simple: Fly Ekiti, Farm Ekiti, Taste Ekiti, Stay and Explore Ekiti, Invest in Ekiti,” Ojo-Lanre said.
The Ekiti stand will also promote Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort, TAJ Suites, Davies Travel Lodge, Arinta Waterfalls, Ugele Rock Shelter, the First Catholic Mass Centre in Usi-Ekiti, and other heritage and natural attractions.
A Taste Ekiti activation will feature selected locally produced foods under the message:
TASTE IT • LIKE IT • BUY IT
The State is also taking an investment desk to Akwaaba through the Ekiti State Development and Investment Promotion Agency, EKDIPA, whose personnel will engage prospective investors on opportunities in Agro-Tourism, hospitality, agriculture, processing, MICE, eco-tourism and public-private partnerships.
Ojo-Lanre added:
“We are not going to Akwaaba only to sell tourism. We are also going to sell Ekiti as an investment destination. Tourism attracts attention; investment converts attention into jobs and economic growth.”
He called on tour operators, travel buyers, investors, airlines, hospitality professionals and media practitioners to visit the Ekiti State Pavilion.
