Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has taken a bold step toward full digital transformation by bringing in Huawei Nigeria to integrate advanced technology solutions across every section of the institution.

The university’s management confirmed that the move is closely aligned with the Lagos State government’s Smart City vision, aiming to position LASUSTECH at the forefront of technological advancement in higher education.

To set the project in motion, a team of skilled technologists from Huawei has carried out an inspection and analysis of the university’s various facilities, starting with the Surulere campus before moving on to the main campus in Ikorodu.

Recently, the team paid a detailed visit to the Ikorodu main campus, where they conducted thorough assessments of key areas including the administrative building, the library, the six colleges, the ICT building, the 700-seat auditorium, the 500-seat hall, the 200-seat lecture theater, the senate building, and several other structures still under construction.

Speaking on the initiative, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, explained that the project is designed to connect the entire university system through a robust internet network.

He noted that while it represents a major capital investment, such a transformation is essential for turning LASUSTECH into a truly smart school fit for the twenty-first century.

It was further gathered that Huawei was chosen as the contractor because the tech giant already possesses an intimate understanding of the university’s physical and digital infrastructure, having consistently supported LASUSTECH with technology equipment and maintained a strong partnership over time.
