Members of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Alumni Association have donated cash prizes and other gifts to the institution’s best graduating students.
They made the donations during the university’s 18th Convocation held at the its auditorium in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Wednesday.
Presenting the gifts separately, the members noted that the award of excellence is not a one-off gesture but a deliberate, sustained commitment to recognising and encouraging academic merit.
The global president of the association, Lekan Badmus, donated N200,000 to each best graduating student across all departments, stressing the importance of education to societal development.
“Education is the backbone of our society, and we must recognise its importance in addressing societal needs and human development.
“This gesture demonstrates the association’s commitment to improving the welfare of staff and students of the university while providing opportunities for educational advancement,” he said.
Other donors included former alumni president, Solomon Onilede and Adeyanju Ibrahim.
They urged the best graduating students to remain innovative and focused in their pursuit of success.
