FCT CP Assures UTME Candidates Of Safety, Warns Against Disruption

The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Ahmed Sanusi, has assured candidates and other stakeholders involved in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination of adequate security throughout the examination period.

He also warned that any attempt to disrupt the exercise would be met with decisive action in accordance with the law.

The assurance was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, following the CP’s inspection of security deployments across Computer-Based Test centres for the ongoing examination.

According to the statement, Sanusi assessed security arrangements put in place to safeguard candidates, officials, and examination facilities.

“During the inspection, the CP evaluated security arrangements put in place to protect candidates, officials, and examination facilities. He also interacted with centre supervisors, assuring them of adequate security presence throughout the examination period,” the statement partly read.

The police boss reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, stressing that any disruption would not be tolerated.

“He further warned that any attempt to disrupt the process would be met with decisive action in line with the law,” the statement added.

Sanusi also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.

The development follows a directive by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, who ordered the deployment of rapid response teams to examination centres nationwide to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
