Kebbi Varsity To Graduate 7,221 In Maiden Convocation

The Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology (AFUSTA), Aliero, Kebbi State, will confer degrees, diplomas, and certificates to 7,221 graduates at its maiden combined convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor B.G. Danshehu, told journalists that the graduates are from the 2010/2011 to 2023/2024 academic sessions.

“This maiden convocation coincides with 19 years of sustained academic activities at AFUSTA and represents the first in the university’s history,” he said.

Prof. Danshehu, the university’s fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor, said that since his appointment 16 months ago, his focus has been to transform AFUSTA into a first-class institution, not only in Nigeria but globally, for the development of Kebbi State and the nation.

The convocation will feature the formal investiture of the Chancellor, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, the Emir of Yauri, and confer honorary doctorate degrees on eminent personalities, including the governors of Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Imo, the Sultan of Sokoto, and the Ooni of Ife, in recognition of their leadership and contributions to national development.

Professor Danshehu said the convocation lecture will be delivered by Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State.
