Education District Rewards Teachers, Students

Lagos State Education District V, has honoured outstanding teachers, students and non – teaching staff across the district, for their remarkable achievements and contributions to the progress of the district.

The Annual Merit Award themed: “Empowering the future: Celebrating outstanding performance in education,” was held at the District’s Headquarter in Agboju Lagos.

The District also celebrated its Annual Students’ Honours Day Celebration simultaneously.

The Permanent Secretary of the District, Mr Dauda Abiodun Hassan, said that whatever achievement being celebrated presently in the District, is the product of collective effort and unwavering commitment of the dedicated staff at the District and across the 152 schools in Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Badagry, and Ojo Zones respectively.

He stressed that the Award is not a mere ceremonial recognition, but a merit-based one and an appreciation of hard work, consistency, and integrity, which particularly highlights student-driven achievements and the unwavering dedication of the staff and administrators.

He further urges the award recipients not to relent. “Let this not be the end, but a motivation to do even more. The reward for hard work, as we know, is more work. Do not rest on your oars, lest you fall and get drowned.”

“As we celebrate today, let us remember that excellence is not an act but a habit. Let us continue to work together as stakeholders – teachers, administrators and students alike, to empower the future for outstanding performance. It is with this synergy that we can altogether make Education District V and Lagos State a beacon of innovation, discipline, and productivity.

“Together, we shall continue to lead from behind, empower our people in front, and ensure that the light of Education in our District and in Lagos State generally, shines brighter, and brighter, each passing year,”, Hassan noted.

Best Principle Award recipient, from Iba Housing Estate Senior Secondary School, Mrs. Oluyinka Soyinbo expressed: “I feel really privileged. This is an encouragement for me to do better next time. I also encourage fellow teachers to continue being hardworking.”

State Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers Lagos State chapter, Comrade Akintoye Hassan, urged teachers who have been performing wonderfully well to justify the huge investment of the state through the policy of the Governor.

“They should thrive harder so that we would not only have this success in our cover but sustain it,. Within the TG’s first year, the members of the education district have witnessed a lot of tremendous improvement in terms of administration progress,” Akintoye said.
