NiDCOM Applauds Capt. Osilaja for Making History in US Aviation

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has congratulated Captain Adebanke Osilaja on her historic emergence as the first licensed Nigerian female pilot at any United States legacy airline.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the feat as a landmark achievement for Nigeria and a proud moment for the nation in the global aviation space.

According to her, rising to the rank of Captain with a major American carrier underscores Osilaja’s exceptional professionalism, resilience and technical mastery.

“She has not only broken barriers but also opened new frontiers for young Nigerian women aspiring to soar in male-dominated professions like aviation,” Dabiri-Erewa said.

She added that Osilaja’s success serves as a powerful source of motivation to Nigerian youths at home and in the diaspora.

The NiDCOM boss wished the newly celebrated Captain greater heights in her aviation career.

It will be recalled that Capt. Osilaja was among the awardees at the 2025 National Diaspora Merit Awards held in Abuja in July.

Confirming the development, NiDCOM’s Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocol, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, said:

“This achievement reaffirms the excellence Nigerians continue to display on the global stage. Captain Osilaja has made the nation proud.”
