Edin Dzeko Shown Red Card in bizarre Circumstance
Edin Dzeko was sent off on Sunday in bizarre circumstances when the former Manchester City striker was punished for pulling down the shorts of his opponent.
Playing for Serbia in their World Cup qualifier against Greece, the striker got in a bit of a tangle with his opponent Kyriakos Papadopoulo.
Having been bustled to the ground he couldn’t hold in his frustration – so yanked down the shorts of the Greek defender.
The bizarre scenes turned even more ridiculous when Dzeko got stuck under the lowered shorts as he tried to get up.
While most people thought the scenes were hilarious, referee Jonas Eriksson took a dim view of the shenanigans and showed both Dzeko and Papadopoulo red cards.
By the end of the match it was Dzeko who must have felt like he had had his pants pulled down as the incident proved a catalyst for Greece to find an equaliser and draw the game 1-1.
