The Future Awards Africa Unveils First East African Host for Its 19th Edition, Azeezah Hashim

Africa’s most prestigious youth platform, The Future Awards Africa (TFAA), continues to expand its legacy of celebrating excellence and inclusivity across the continent. Now in its 19th edition and themed “Threads of Legacy,” TFAA proudly unveils its first-ever East African host — Kenyan media personality Azeezah Hashim, who will co-host this year’s ceremony alongside Nollywood actor Mike Afolarin.

Dubbed by Forbes as “The Most Important Awards for Outstanding Young Africans,” The Future Awards Africa has, for nearly two decades, celebrated exceptional Africans aged 18 to 31 who are shaping governance, creativity, entrepreneurship, and social innovation. Now in its 19th year, TFAA continues to shine a light on the next generation of leaders shaping Africa’s story and steering the continent toward a bold and transformative future.

In line with this year’s theme, the 2025 hosts exemplify the power of using one’s voice and talent to shape the continent’s cultural narrative. Azeezah Hashim, a nominee in the On-Air Personality category, has become a vibrant voice in East African media — known for her authenticity and cross-border appeal. Her co-host, Mike Afolarin, nominated in the Acting category, his second TFAA nomination, represents the new face of Nollywood’s global storytelling. Together, they bring the energy, creativity, and vision that define TFAA.

Speaking on the hosting duo, Ayodeji Razaq, Executive Director of The Future Awards Africa, said, “This year’s theme reminds us that the stories we weave today will define the Africa of tomorrow. Azeezah and Mike, two young Africans using their gifts to connect, inspire, and transform, represent that truth perfectly. As they make history on The Future Awards stage, they become living threads in the fabric of our collective legacy.”

As The Future Awards Africa 2025 approaches, the continent waits in anticipation to celebrate the next generation of leaders whose stories are shaping Africa’s tomorrow. Who better to guide us through this night of power, purpose, and possibility than two of Africa’s own changemakers, storytellers, and symbols of the incredible legacy Africa continues to build.
