Pate Donates Laptops To Newly Established UNIMAID Communication Faculty

Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere, Professor Umaru Pate, has donated 20 laptop computers to the newly established Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS) at the University of Maiduguri to support digital learning and media training.

The donation was made during a one-day interactive session for Mass Communication students from UNIMAID, Borno State University, and Al-Ansar University, organised in collaboration with the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB).

Professor Pate, a leading figure in media scholarship, handed over the laptops through the UNIMAID Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, and pledged continued support to help the faculty produce globally competitive graduates.

“We must equip this faculty to deliver modern, ethical, and impactful journalism education,” he said.

Professor Mele thanked Pate for his generosity and described the gesture as timely. “His support and wisdom will go a long way in strengthening this faculty,” he said.

Head of Department, Dr Abdulmutallib A. Abubakar, who also serves as ACSPN’s Northeast Deputy President, said the computers would be used to build students’ practical and digital skills.

Students expressed appreciation for the interaction and described Professor Pate as an inspiring mentor and role model in Nigerian journalism.
