In the spirit of Christmas, Super Eagles and Fulham FC midfielder, Alex Iwobi has displayed his generosity by opening up his own temporary shop in Canning town (East London) to provide free food to those in need this Christmas.
Iwobi opened βAleXpressβ in Canning Town, his hometown in east London, where he distributed food items, including turkeys, to 100 families as part of Project 17.
βIn the house I was raised in, my dad naturally just gave back. To people in Nigeria, to his family and even people in the street β he would just buy bottles of water and give them to neighbours,β Iwobi told BBC Sport Africa. Β
He also revealed his parents are his inspiration: βJust seeing how my parents are, Iβve always seen them give back. And with that as role models, itβs just made me feel like when I get in a position where I am today, or even if I was in less of a position, I would always try my best to give back and help the less fortunate or people that are not able to eat.
The selfless act of Iwobi, who has been on stellar form for Fulham this season, is a testament to his kind heart and his commitment to giving back to the community where he was raised during his primary school years.
Meanwhile, Genk striker Arokodare has also joined the charitable train, partnering with Sint-Vincentius, a local charity in Genk, Belgium, to distribute food parcels to families in need during the festive period.
According to Belgian website tvl.be/nieuws, Arokodare and three other Genk teammates participated in preparing food parcels at Sint-Vincentius in Genk, an organisation that distributes 20 tonnes of food monthly.
