Ibom Innovation Network, organizers of the Akwa Ibom Tech Week recently unveiled the theme and activities for the 2024 edition at The Bunker in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The team unveiled the theme, “Building a Resilient Innovation Ecosystem” to journalists at a well attended press briefing where they stated the objective of Akwa Ibom Tech Week 2024, which is to build a resilient innovation ecosystem in the state, to inspire innovations that will address real life issues.
The Chairman of the planning committee, Amanda Etuk in her remark disclosed that the event would be a melting point for tech enthusiasts in Nigeria and others from around the world.”The event is scheduled to take place from October 28 to November 2, 2024 with a week-long event which will feature a range of activities, including; Hackathon, Cultural Night, Conference, Career Fair and Creative Showcase, Google Developers Fest and a tour of tech hubs in the state.”
Ibom Innovation Network, a community of innovators and innovation support organizations in Akwa Ibom State led by Mr Hanson Johnson recounts Google scholarships for hundreds of youths, several remote job placements and strategic partnerships as benefits of the previous edition of the tech week.
Speaking further on the gains from last year’s event, the Publicist of Ibom Innovation Network, Mr Idongesit Essien (D’Instructor) highlighted the mentorship and capacity building of young people who volunteer to work for the project as one of the achievement recorded. He said the Leadership Trainings and Soft Skills Development for volunteers has helped develop the capacity of 150 cohorts in the last 10 months.
Understanding that the days in the tech week have different focus, Mr Francis Onuk of The RootHub hinted that the Career Fair would be one of the most exciting for young ones, as it promises to immerse guests into an unforgettable experience of creative technology.
