Varsity Students Urged To Invest In Real Estate

Real estate experts have urged university and tertiary institution students to leverage the opportunities that investments in real estate offer to make money as students and to secure their future financially.

The experts, under the auspices of Higherlife Properties Consult, made this charge in Ibadan on Saturday while addressing some students of the University of Ibadan (UI) through an event tagged ‘Level Up Conference’.

The co-founder and director of Higherlife Properties, Victor Ohwo, stated that the essence of the conference was to expose the students to the businesses, careers, and networks that investing in real estate as a student can offer them.

“If you do not have a dream, someone else will give you their dream to live. So, at this young age, have a dream and short- and long-term goals to actualize your dream,” he added.

Other real estate investors and consultants from Higherlife Properties Consult spoke at the event.

They included Kayode Ishola, co-founder, Higherlife Properties; Tunde Bakare, CEO, TAB Ideas; Olayiwole Shehu, CEO, O.S. Tijani Consult; Elijah Adejimi of EL-Rock Cares; Oyibokure Smith, CEO, Integrity Homes and Properties; and Muazu Abu, CEO, Raum Africa.

These resource persons spoke extensively on the fundamentals of land acquisition and how to go about land and land property registration with the government and other relevant bodies. They also spoke on the legal and technological aspects of real estate and how to avoid or manage the challenges associated with the real estate business.

They urged the students to key into the business and use it as a stepping stone to support their schooling and gain more work experience before they graduate.

Hammed Adeshina, a 300-level sociology student at the university, said that he joined the real estate business in his first year, and since then, he has been able to network with top people and industry experts in the business.

“The real estate business has provided me with the financial stability to cater for my needs as well as to invest my profits back into the business,” Adeshina said.

He further said that some UI students he knows are active in the business and are doing well for themselves.

Higherlife Properties Consult seized the opportunity to reward some of the students who have been working with them with gift items and encouraged them to continue investing in the business while endeavouring to ensure that their studies are not affected in the process.
